During the summer of 1969 I moved my family from Stuttgart to El Dorado, Arkansas to take on an assistant choral director position in this larger school district. The school was integrated that year with the students from Washington High and we ended up with over 10 choral groups and 300 students. We had three choral directors, Mr. Johnny Mason, Mrs. Georgia Williams and Mr. James Foxx. That first year I directed the 47 member Choraliers Mixed Choir, the 90 voice Chantelles Girls Choir and 21 voice Chorale Singers. The following year I became lead choral director with Mrs. Georgia Williams and Mr. Joe Williams as assistants. The three of us served El Dorado High for many years. Eventually I became department chair and finally Fine Arts Coordinator for the whole El Dorado School District. My family and I stayed in El Dorado for 17 years.
